The CET is FICPI’s Study & Work Commission. It is the largest of our commissions with more than 200 members who are active in one or more among nine specialised groups.
Throughout the years, effective working methods have been developed by the CET to ensure that, even at the very short notice that is often given by international, regional and national authorities, FICPI can produce a high quality, detailed opinion.
The CET President, Vice President, Reporter General and Assistant Reporter General are responsible for the overall management of the work within the CET. This is then divided into a number of specialised commissions dealing with different branches of IP protection.
There are currently nine groups dealing respectively with trade mark matters, designs, international patent matters, European and regional patent matters, technology related patent issues, litigation and enforcement, patents in specialist subject matter areas, IP asset management and our newest group IP in Asia.
The Chair and members of the CET specialised commissions are chosen by the CET, after consulting the Bureau and the Council for opinions, from lists of candidates including members of the national associations or national sections and in suitable cases, individual members.
To secure efficient operation, the CET is also joined by the Bureau and the presidents of PEC, EUCOF, TEC and the Communications Commission, as ex officio members.
